Ok, The bike is a 2003 Suzuki Gsxr Alstare 600. I bought this bike about a month ago for fairly cheap. It has the normal stunt parts, and also came with a power commander. When I purchased it, it didn't run.. due to a dead battery(I thought). Once I got the bike home, I threw my jumper pack on and tried jumping it. It would crank and crank but wouldn't turn over. At the time it was 20 degrees outside, So I figuered it didn't like cold weather. I then took it out to my friends heated shop, It sat for 5 minutes, tried starting it and it fired right up. After that it has never wanted to start after sitting in a cold garage. If its in a heated it will fire right up. I kept it out at the shop for about 2 weeks and road it 6 or 7 different times for 15-20 minutes each time. After 2 weeks of starting and running fine I figured I would take it home and leave it there. A few days after getting the bike home I go back out and was going to go for a quick ride; wont start.. will crank and crank but wont pop. It almost sounds like it's starving for gas. I know I'm an idiot for trying this since its fuel injected, but I sprayed some starting fluid in the TB's to see if it was starving for gas, and when I did spray the starting fluid in, it would turn over for a second and then die. A week later, the damn thing still wont run... I was pretty much lost and didnt know what else to do. I figured I would unplug the power commander and wire it back to stock, and sure enough the peice of **** fires right up. Ran kinda rough but I thought it was because of a weak battery. So I put the battery on the charger all night to see if she would hold charge. Put the battery back in and it cranks fine but will not run. I pulled and cleaned the spark plugs a few days ago, and once i tried starting it after that it ran(shitty)[also, this is with the power commander disconnected]. I road it for a few minutes and it still seemed as it was starving for gas. After I get home I shut it off and now it wont start, with or without the power commander being connected. I am going to buy new spark plugs next week and maybe that will help. I'm pretty much stuck though, It seems everything(harness wise)is plugged in. I was thinking maybe I fried my computer and power commander while trying to jump it. Has anyone ever seen this problem?? I hate to take it to a shop and pay them a ton of money if its something I can fix. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies to this.

P.S. I also drained the tank and put in fresh gas.

keep the pc off it....and do you have some one around you with the same bike?? cuz then you can try his ecu to see if its that or his ignition to see if its that cuz it sounds like to me ur having a spark issue also check if the coils that go ontop of the sparkplugs are good

also does ur fi light come on when the bike is running?

9 out of 10 times its somthing stupid like a loose wire or a faulty sensor

I Pm'd you my number. I didn't even think about it but i do have 3 friends that have 02-03 600's. As for the FI light.. I dont have a cluster...and the key is bent to a 90 degree angle.. Soo the previous owner had it hotwired.. the kill switch turns the bike on and off. Anyways, Thanks for the reply, Im looking forward to getting this worked out.

 

i had the same problem with the exact same bike...the problem for me was the fuel pump...get one of ur friends to let u switch tanks with them to see if that is the problem....

 

change u r plugs man, then go from there, cause u r attempts to stat the bike in vain wil kill the plugs.

i read this thread a while ago and now i'm having kind of the same problem, only for me it seems like mine is getting too much fuel becsue after i finally get my bike started after laying on the starter and feathering the throttle it starts to sputter, pop, and shoot flames out the exhaust.

i'm maybe thinkin it could be something with a senser or something due to the fact that the wireing is all fucked up. by the way it's an '03 zx-6r not a gixxer like yours. i think i'm gonna get some new plugs myself.

Maybe getting too much air, your mixture might be off... bad sensors? Buy a manual and start trouble shooting from there is what I would say. Don't do anything too drastic like... buy a new bike until you start with the small and simple stuff.
