Re: f4i idol cable mod
Ive done it but all i did was take two idle adjustors and welded them together.....BAM!!! instance extension.:YEAH ..I ran it from the top of the throttlebodies to the side of the bike... Just make sure to run it straight and that it doesnt kink-up prior to tighten the tank down. But with a little adjustment you'll be good to go!!!:YEAH :YEAH

Re: f4i idol cable mod
idle
Idol was a rock singer from the 80's
and for your question, any honda idle cable will work. we think the 6rr cable is the longest, followed by f2/f3's. whatever you can get will work

Re: f4i idol cable mod
Personally I recommend the 900rr cable
Its short, but just logn enough to stick out, its the cheapest by far (I spent $12 at my dealer only 2 weeks ago for a new one)
And the 600rr cable, you gotta dremel the tip off and risk ruining the threads, and it cost like $23 at my dealer, plus it hangs out like 6 inches off the bike and looks like a little *****

Re: f4i idol cable mod
what are you guys actually doing to do the mod? replace the cable completely or add it in somehow to make the original longer? haven't really looked much at my buddy Bones' f4i but he mentioned he has the cable coming so wanted to know how to do it before it gets in

Re: f4i idol cable mod
remove the set screw, and thread in the aftermarket idle cable..
Once you pop the air box off, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about
And the reason we add 2 cables, is because the stock cable adjusts a 'flapper valve' as it was explained to me.. And that doesn't actually open the throttle, it just richens up the fuel mixture to make the bike rev higher...
So instead you add a cable, that opens the throttle bodies, the same way you open your throttle with your hand..
