I have an 05 636 that is not starting. I tried putting a new battery but it still will not start. The bike has been sitting for about 4-5 months. When I turn the ignition on I hear the fuel pump turn on but when I press the start button, it cranks but will not start. The part in the picture below seems to be acting weird also. When I turn the igniton on, the silver part below is supposed to turn and then return too its original position. But instead of returning to its original position, it keeps tweaking like it cannot return to the original position. Then when I press the start button it goes back to normal. I have no idea what is wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And by the way, this is a stunt bike there are some unplugged wires and stuff. If you dont understand what I am talking about, please ask me whatever questions you have so I can try and get this thing running again. Thanks.

 

had an 05 all summer and was the biggest head ache ever, all electrical problems i was shorting left and right!!!! i finally got fed up and picked up an 04 636 yesterday, best stunt bike i ever had and never getting rid of this one!!!! i suggested u do the same cuz it was a nightmare for me!!! good luck.

 

I wish it was that simple. Now does anyone have any productive comments that will actually help me with my problem?

 

sorry I cant help, but my 05 is acting up too...so I gotta quick question.

You say you replaced your battery, before you did that, did your gauges flicker on and off alot whenever you'd turn your key? Mine hasnt been turned on in about 3 months and I figured it was just the battery, I tried to jump it in gear and it will turn on, but the gauges still flicker and it wont stay on if I try to let it idle.

#1, poor out old gas...

#2, alot of the time people confuse the secondary butterfly valves as priming...

lift your tank up and remove your air box and hit the on switch and you will see what noise i am talking about...

if there is water in the tank, you can tell by taking off the tank, flipping it upside down removing the fuel pump and shining a flash light into the tank, you will see a viscosity separation, like syrup in water, but the syrup in the tank is water.

and that silver thing under the seat is an exhaust valve actuator thing.. you most likely bought that bike with a slip on so the cables can no longer be hooked up.. i am un ware if that causes the 05+ 636's to not run if the motor doesn't sense tension, try google searching 05+ 636 exhaust valve issues or something.

wheeliest said it perfect, if thats not it then you are not getting a fuel shot to ignite the engine, but if you hear the fuel injector working then its prob bad gas
