&*$# stupid bike

I was learning rolling burn out the other night, lost one of em, dumped my bike...now, there's this banging or clunking coming from my bike. it only seems to happen when the bike is in gear and the clutch is not pulled in. if you click it into neutral while the bike is moving, or, if you pull the clutch in while you are moving, the clunking goes away. i can hear it under light, normal, and heavy acceleration as well as riding at a steady speed. my bike is too loud to hear anything while engine braking. also, you can feel this clunking go through the rear sets and in the seat. it accelerates with tire speed and NOT with engine speed...HELP! ! ! ! i need to fix this before it destroys more things inside my tranni or where ever this is happening...

Re: &*$# stupid bike

take off your oil filter and cut it open, look for metal.

i know it sounds dumb but check your chain, and sprockets.

Re: &*$# stupid bike

I agree. It just happened to a couple of my friends. Don't start the bike anymore until you pull the clutch out and fix it. The pieces jump around making a mess

Re: &*$# stupid bike

i had that problem on my old 2001 gixxer 6, i put after market clutch springs in and one backed out.. it made that noise your were talking about. clutch in... it would shut up.... pull your clutch cover off (on the right side of your bike) check it out it will look like this---- http://houseofmotorcycles.bikebandit...e~CBR900RR.asp

part 15 and 12 check to make sure none of those bolts either broke or backed out.....

could be it sounds like the similar **** that happend to mine

Re: &*$# stupid bike

well i took the sprocket off to see if the motor would do it with out a chain and sprocket on it, or if it would make a noise without any load on the tranni, and the noise dissappeared. so i put everything back on, went to ride it around again to have my friend listen (he seems to be the closest thing i have to a guru that can physically look at it) and the noise was still gone....so we'll see if it comes back or if it is gone...

Re: &*$# stupid bike

so turns out it was my chain. on close inspection, it seemed fine, just some minor stiff spots in the chain. i took my sprocket cover off and had my friend ride next to me to listen to the noise; and he noticed every time my master link hit the top of the front sprocket, it jumped and the rest of the chain shook violently. we checked the chain tension etc which was fine; replaced the chain, and all seems well so far....:YEAH
