wheelies with a full tank of gas

i learned wheelies a few days ago and the front would come up real easy and high in first gear on the throttle. then i went to the gas station got a half a tank of gas and now i cant even get it up. when i was doin wheelies the gas was real low.

does the amount of gas effect wheelies this much or is it something im doin wrong? i have a 98 zx9 and i thought i would have plenty of power to still bring it up in first gear with more gas in the tank.

Red face Free your mind

bpmull-

I use to think that too and yes my bike did come up easier with less fuel and I also tried it with a full tank and it wouldn't come up as easy.

BUT, that's when I was first learning. Now I definitely know it was all in my head. I am alot better at getting it up now and just a couple of weeks ago I was wheelin' with about 1/4 tank and then I went to the gas station and topped it off.

No difference... it's all in your mind.

Oh yeah I am doing this on a 2000 F4, your zx9 should have no prob.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with a few of ya. The difference between a full tank and an empty one is like 32 pounds. Sorry to say but it does make a difference, Especially when your learning. The thing that is all in your head is that you are good enough now doing wheelies that you dont think about it anymore.

aw0n0 can only hope to improve
when i was first learning i couldn't even do wheelies with a full tank on my katana 600, so id wait till the gas got low. It definitly does make a difference when your first learning but on a zx9r in first gear you should prolly be able to get the front wheel way up there on pure throttle...throttle up to like 4k then close and open the throttle quickly and it will come up
