Question Motor Question about 94 F2

I was looking at buying a 94 F2 to make it a full stunt bike. a guy is selling it pretty cheap. He said it just wouldn't start. i don't know much about the bike. but i cleaned the carbs and i still could'lnt not get it fire. i called a guy and he said something about the shim and buckets. i did'nt know what that ment. i was hoping someone could help me. i assume it is with setting the valves. and the other hand if the valves are messed up i was wondering if i should even buy the bike cause i don't want to keep dumping a bunch of money into it. Any help

Re: Motor Question about 94 F2

if the valves are that outta whack i wouldn't buy it unless you have spare motor laying arround. basicly it sounds like hes saying it wont start because your valves are open during the 4 stroke cycle. so basicly u have no compression.

Exactly, from the factory the valves should never be that far out of adjustment that the bike will not start...but im not saying an in-experienced mechanic working on it could have messed up the clearance (or lack of)...fuel problems are the most common usually....
