CBR900-954 help needed!

Will a 96/97 or 98/99 CBR900 cockpit stay (or upper fairing support brace...how ever you call it) fit a CBR954?
I think I´ve seen it done before....I mean this part....

Re: CBR900-954 help needed!

It´s the part that goes from tank to upper fairing.
THe reason why I ask is that I want to use it as a grab bar and it would stiffen the upper when sitting highchair.

Has anyone done it or seen it before?

Yes, because both the mirror stay (900rr) and the stock upper stay (954/929) are threaded to accept the mirrors.

Meaning they both overlap and one or the other needs to be trimmed down so they will fit nicely together.

...I didn´t think of my steering damper that is mounted on top of my tank, this will be a problem.....I´ll see how I´ll solve that problem....

Seen it before on a 929, but be sure to come back and post pics when you're done

Re: CBR900-954 help needed!

I think it would work with a rotary damper like a GPR or scotts, but a piston type that mounts right there, I can see causing problems. I have a piston type on my 900, but it mounts in front, off the top fairing stay bolt, not the mirror stay/tank bolts

Unfortunately the GPR dampers aren´t available with a TÜV certificate over here, I would need a damper like yours but I love my Hyperpro so I think I leave it like it is and get me one of these new aluminium stunt stays.

Re: CBR900-954 help needed!

buy an aftermarket fairing stay. I put the 900 stay on a 929. it lasted for a while but it is not designed to be sat on. it will break, the aluminum is real thin.

Re: CBR900-954 help needed!

The 900 stay is very weak. I have tweaked, bent and demolished mine over and over again. If you can find an alternative, I would recommend that rather than waste your money.
