cage thickness...?

ok, so I tested the cage I made, and after single highside this is the result:

it's iron something less than an inch diameter (2,2cm) and 2mm wall thickness...I suspected it may be too soft, and unfortunatelly I proved to be right...so Im building another one and would like to know what material are all the cages made from and how thick? I think the inox would be best solution but I can't weld that myself...

Re: cage thickness...?

alloy steel for sure ... or try to find some Tungsten carbide or titanium tubing - don't know how you would bend it though

or you could call ian at sick innovations - he ships over seas

Re: cage thickness...?

yeah I knew it was soft, but I thought it might hold for some time and some light crashes...I don't have money to order from US, cuz cage + shipping + taxes and customs wouldn't be under 500$...I can get one custom made from inox for like 200$ but I don't even have that much so...lol...

thanks for the replys

Re: cage thickness...?

I don't know what exactly do you think of mike, cuz it all bent, but the worst and crucial part was the knee that goes over the shifter...then it touched the cover and it cracked a bit but I'll be able to weld that...also the peg bracket broke which would also be protected if it didn't bent...don't have a pic of left side before the crash but heres something so you can see how it used to be...

@punk: I replied at your pm...thanks!

Re: cage thickness...?

if you would have used simple steel, the DA LIKS style cage would be sufficient!

Re: cage thickness...?

yeah, your design is great, you saw that I even reinforced it a bit, but you didn't told me to use steel when I asked you bout thickness, in fact you didn't reply at all...that's why Im gonna come up there and smoke all your weed...:D
