Question Front Sprocket

I've just been reading an artical in next months TWO Wheels, and says that shold you with to lower the number of teeth on the front sprocket then chain manufacturers sugest that you go no lower that 14 t otherwisethe chain will destro its self .

Have any of you tried this theory??

I've just changed mine to 14T F (-1) and 43t Back (+3).

About to try to fit them tonight - Any idea if the stock chain 108-525 will fit this??

If you go too small of a front sprocket, the chain will hit the swingarm. This isn't good for the chain at all. It'll make your swingarm look gnarled, but shouldn't be a problem.

I don't know why it would 'destroy itself.' The only reason i can think of is that since it's wrapping around such a small turn, it creates weird stress on the chain.

Your stock chain might fit. But that would require you to move the rear wheel forward. This will **** up your handling. Furthermore, you should change chain and sprockets together for wear reasons. If you don't, a worn item with an unworn item will make BOTH of them wear out faster.

Just get all new ****. A new chain is like $25.

Hmm, ok I lied, sorry. I don't know why I thought $25?

But you can get them for around $65 for a 520 EK, 120 link.

Got it fitted with -1 up front and + 3 in rear, but as you said I had the put the rear wheel forward a bit and it is srewing the handleing!

I'm now gonna get a new chain - but across here in the UK it's like a £100 for 525 - 110 links!

So after all that I went to go for a blast to try it out and it started to Bucket down with rain! So the only test I got was a wheel spin - Ya hoo!
