Using a z1000 triple clamp on a 636?

okay... so the z1000 triple clamps fit 7/8 bars and fit my forks.. the one question I have for anyone who knows about this... is the top triple clamp from a z1000 compatible with a lower 2003 636 clamp.

messure the fork tubes, if they are 50mm then most likely will work, i used 05 tripple on 03 and steering lock still works.

correct.. they DO fit over the forks and do match up with the hole for the bottom shaft... but what I'm wondering is.. does it fit onto that shaft properly.

I could be wrong but if I remember the 1000 stem is a little shorter, then the 6. You just have to do w/o one of the washers under the steering head nut, then your good.

Most bikes have two... as long as you have one on there you should be fine. I put a R1 front end on my R6 and the stem was shorter,so i just put one of the nuts under the tripple and its been fine,
