F4i idle adjustment help

I just put a new motor in my f4i and added the throttle screw to the top of the injectors. I have been messing with it for a few days and I still can't get it to idle below 3000 rpms. This is with both idle screws all the way down and messing with the idle adjustment on the bottom of the injectors. I can't figure out why I can't get it to idle below 3000 rpm. It will go from 3000 and up with the new idle screw i added but not below. Any insight on what to do next would be greatly appreciated.

OK- I put a whole new throttle body on the motor and even switched out the wiring harness and computer and it still does the same thing? I checked all the vacuum lines and they seem ok. Does anyone else know why it's doing this? Thanks a lot

Is your FI light blinking on your guage cluster?

Re: F4i idle adjustment help

is the threaded part of the idle cable jammed on an airbox or something?

i've had to shorten the threaded tip by about 5mm.

did you also put the spring on the correct side? its just there to keep tension on the tip so that it doesn't rattle in/out.

most likely.. something is fouling on the throttle mechanism and preventing it from returning to the normal rest position.

Re: F4i idle adjustment help

The idle cable is all the way back and I shortened my tip also, but it is not hitting. The spring is on the right side for tension behind the bolt. I even had new throttle bodies off another bike put on along with the throttle cables and the clip ons already together. It still does the same thing. I'm wondering if a bad fuel pump can pump too much gas to make it idle higher? The lowest idle setting right now is 3000-3500 rpms and it will increase from there. I am so confused with this

Re: F4i idle adjustment help

no FI lights blinking. I had it blink before but that was because the air box wasn't plugged into the sensor, but after i put that back on there were no problems or FI lights blinking

Re: F4i idle adjustment help

did you connect the wax unit water lines? It may keep high idle, because it thinks the engine is cold.

the wax unit is part of the Throttle body assemply and it gets two small water lines.

Re: F4i idle adjustment help

Yea.. i hooked both hosed up the the wax unit and the idle screw back up to it too. Is it possible that its even further down than the throttle bodies? I wouldn't think so. I just can't figure out why both throttle bodies would cause this.

Re: F4i idle adjustment help

OK - I was messing around today and took the hose off of the map sensor. Once i did this, it idled perfectly. I stitched out map sensors and whenever the hose is connected, it idles high again. Any thoughts? The hose runs into the 4 from the throttle body

Re: F4i idle adjustment help

Nope - still didn't figure it out. Yup I got a shop manual and tried everything i could think of. The new map sensor didn't help either. I figured it's a vacuum problem but have no idea how to go about fixing it. I'm probably going to have to take it to a shop. I just hope they figure it out.

No one has said anything but check your throttle cables. Is your throttle really crisp (no play what so ever) or is it sloppy. We messed with our friend by adjusting his throttle so it would idle at like 4g's and he couldn't figure out for the life of him why it idled so high, and it was simply b/c we adjusted his throttle cable up by the throttle tube.

Re: F4i idle adjustment help

yea.. I even took the cables off, but the hammer n the throttle cable is all the way down. It definately has something to do with a vacuum problem after seeing the map sensor act like that
