body work

my bike had some gay pin striping crap on the upper fairing when I bought it so I decided to redo all the paint, anyways I sprayed some paint stripper on it now there is like this black tar looking crap under the paint and its horribly rough what is this and what do I do?

Re: body work

thats the adhesive on the sticker
you gotta sand it off with some 100 grit
and get an orbital sander to get it off....cause doing it by hand will take forever

Re: body work

You mean it is all over the fairings? If so, the stripper probably ate into the plastic...in which case you are f u c k e d. I do not think you are supposed to use the stripper on plastic...

rinse it really good and let it set out in the sun until it rehardens then go over it with a DA (dual action sander), bondo, sand, prime, sand, paint

obviously you dont know jack diddly about body work and no matter what you do its gonna look like ****, but im telling you go down to your local paint supply store and buy some "metal glaze" or puddy as its known in the repair business. its light weight and if you absolutely have to you can paint over it. comes in a container big enough to cover you whole bike if you wanted to and its a two part filler (filler and hardner)

+1...If you want to bring the parts to down to Austin I will fix all your plastics and paint it a single color of your choice for $700 and thats with PPG paint and a lifetime warranty..Plastic weld is for fixing cracks if you fix it yourself you need to DA all the plastics as smooth as you can and fix all the imperfections with evercoat metal glaze and then prime with a good 2K primer not the spray can crap...
