Tired of rippin up sprockets

hey guys, i seem to have an issue goin threw rear sprockets faster than i do oilchanges. ive tried a few different brands, the one on there currently is a vortex. It seems like every 2 months or so as i go to do normal chain maintenance (ie. cleaning and adjusting), i see that teeth are missing. on my last rear sprocket i was missing 8 teeth. yesterday i looked at the new one im missing ****in 10.

Where can i get some heavyduty steel sprockets made? i could care less ablout how slow its gonna make the bike, i need the durability.

i got a stupid question, but are you running the right chain for the sprocket, (520 chain with 520 sprocket, or are they mismatched?. theres a company that makes srockets with three metals the center is aluminum and the teeth are tool steel and some other part is titanium, its in the back of dirt bike magazines

Sprocket Specialists in Orville, CA has some good steel sprockets. If your eating sprockets that fast, I'ld adjust your chain weekly. If it stretches and goes out of adjustment, It will eat your sprocket.

i really don't know how to tell the difference, but if you are buying them together then they are probably matched, sprocket specialties is definitely a good place to check out, also is your rear adjusters adjusted straight, because if the tire is crooked then the chain is gonna put side pressure on the sprockets and wear them quickly

Yeah, don't trust those little marks in the swingarm, They're almost always off a bit. Manually check your tire to swingarm clearance on both sides.

Re: Tired of rippin up sprockets

ive had no probs either.

the sproket with the steel teeth ring and aluminum centers are made by a company called Tri-Metal Sprockets i think. there salty, like 130+.

1. chain/wheel adjustment off

or

2. wrong chain for that sprocket.

Re: Tired of rippin up sprockets

Hi new to the boards.....

I would have to agree and check wheel alignment, that was the biggest sprocket killer when I was drag racing....the alignment marks werent good at all and I had to measure each time. Also, if you are stunting heavily you should be checking chain adjustment on at least a weekly basis.
