Re: frame polishing question

i've never done it, but i don't think the exact grit should matter, so long as you work from coarse to fine grit... the more steps you use the more shine you should get.

Re: frame polishing question

if youre hand sanding it youll want to go lower than that..if you got a DA sander you could start at 600 since itll cut fast..
once youre at 1000 go to a polishing compound like mothers..

Re: frame polishing question

if you got a high speed drill with spiral sewn wheels you can buff out 1000 grit, 1500 is a good idea if youre doin it by hand..

here... these dudes know it all..

Re: frame polishing question

starting with 320 on a DA and working your up to 2000 works great and the scratches come out really easy.

I finish with 2000, but my **** always comes out mirror,(no scratches)I also use scotch brite pads, brillo pads, as well as polishing compound sticks.

Re: frame polishing question

I use an angle grinder with one of those "fine" body work pads. if your gonna do it by hand 600 is a good place to start. Do a crosshatch for the next paper. ie. switch directions, helps you see the scratches your getting rid of easier.

Re: frame polishing question

if you really want it to come out easy 3M makes 3000wet for a DA and that stuff cuts the polishing time way down...
