Question Has anyone had their wheels fixed?

I just sent my wheels off to get them straightened back out (wife would have killed if i dropped 2k on forged ones) and i was wondering if anyone has tried this before and if so how did they come out.

I sent the wheels off to frame straight systems. they charge 140 for straightening and add 30 for welding and machining if needed. they claim to get the wheel within .005". on the web page they have some really wrecked wheels that look brand new after the fix. i just won't get to see mine for at least two weeks from now.

That's the same place I was going to refer him to. It would be interesting to know what your total charge would be to get a dented rim repaired. Keep us posted !!

Re: Has anyone had their wheels fixed?

From my experience they get them pretty straight, but they just dent that much easier the next time after the repairs. They heat and bent the dent back and that weakens the rim even more, next time you hit that spot it gets an even bigger dent than before.. Id do it myself if the rim wasnt holding air but wouldnt spend money on straightening them ever again....
