More 929 problems

ok guys Ima need a lil help here. I took the bike out last nite and It ran great until the end of the nite. I was getting off the expressway when it kinda hesitated.. Cleared right up tho n i took off. Im comming down the downramp when i pull in the clutch to downshift and it just shuts off. I let the clutch back out and it starts back up in gear.. ran for a second then shut down again.. this time it wouldnt start back up. It wont fire at all so im lacking spark or fuel. I checked all fuses, pull the plugs n they looked dry. I pulled the tank and both fuel lines are flowing fine. Anyone have a clue what I should check next?

OK you say your lacking fuel but the tank flows fine? Is the pump turning on or not when you turn the key on? anything flashing on the dash?

2 places I would check first is the kill switch area, and cam sensor.

Re: More 929 problems

its deffinately not a battery problem. the bike turns over n sounds normal but no fire. Im not sure but I think its a fuel problem. Like I said before, it hesitated a couple times right before it did this. Im gonna try priming the throttle bodies tonite to see if I get ignition. atleast that will eliminate the guess work. Please keep the suggestions comming. im COMPLETELY lost on this one.

Re: More 929 problems

Same thing happened to me on my 954, it was the resistor on the bottom of the ignition switch. I had to put a new switch.

On my ZX6, it was the fuel pump.

On my F4i, it was the on/off/start switch.

On my ZX7, it was the clutch switch.

On my 900RR, it was water in the tank.

On my friend's GSXR, it was the kickstand switch (but that shouldn't affect it if the bike won't start in neutral).

Good luck.

Re: More 929 problems

correct me if im wrong, but if the fuel pump makes its noise and bike turns on normal with the key n everything, wouldnt that eliminate a switch problem? I didnt think the fuel pump would turn on if this was the problem.

Re: More 929 problems

have you checked to see if you have spark or are you just guessing thats the case casue nothin else has fixed it?

If it really is a spark problem then you will have to find a rectifier that u know that works to see if yours is fried......the other thing it could be is a CPU.

The last 929 that I couldn't get started I just replaced the plugs and it started up and hasent had a problem since.

Re: More 929 problems

I doubt that the rectifier would be the problem.

I'd try another igntion switch if you can find someone that will let you borrow one. Next, I'd try another brain box.
