stator/charging problem

got a 01 929 and has stopped charging and hasnt been dropped . im hoping it may be the regulator .......my question is what is the best way to check this ive checked at the battery with a dmm ...reved and the voltage never changed then i unpluged the regulator from the stator and checked those 3 wires and it read 15.4 vlts but i was told by a shop it was suppose to read 50/60 vlts AC ...but they didnt sound so sure ....any help would be much appreciated as i dont wanna buy a stator if i only need a regulator

Re: stator/charging problem

it should be 60+ volts coming off the stator on all 3 wires. if you only have 15 its probubly toast

Re: stator/charging problem

if you had it hooked to the battery and revved. It shouldve moved. usually 13-14 range.
