FI cage stuck... HELP!!!!!

Buddy has a GSXR750.

FI Delrin plastic on left side was ground down flush.
Instead of removing, he bashed it in and put a new one.
New one eventually ground down also...
We drilled it and got the first one out...
We cant get the next one out. Its too deep to drill and its compacted in there...
Engine bolt needs to be tightened..

How can we get it out?

Maybe use an extractor? Looks like you ****ed up the old slider pretty good.

Any way to heat up a screwdriver and melt it into the plastic and let it cool down so it is stuck to it and then pull it out?

You need to pull the plastic out or just jet all of the plastic burn off. That will ruin the powdercoating too.

Re: FI cage stuck... HELP!!!!!

can't you use a really really long drill bit and keep poking/breaking the thing away? :dunno:

Delrin (what the slider is made out of) is a ultra high molecular weight polymer. What that means it that is it highly impact and abrasion resistant (why it is used as a slider). You may be able to drill enough holes to pull the rest out though.

Re: FI cage stuck... HELP!!!!!

I would get one of the giant flat headed stcrew drivers from sears that has the tip that is larger than the shaft, heat it waaaaaaay up, insert it and then twist it, let it cool and then pull that shizzle out.

Re: FI cage stuck... HELP!!!!!

mabey freeze it, have seen a slider shatter when it was reaaly cold out. might have just been a cheap *** slider though.
