So the fuel pump on my 01 f4i will not turn on. If I connect direct power to it it primes but whenever I flip the starter switch to on it will not prime.

I have checked the starter relays and tried different ones....checked all of the fuses...everything.

The only thing I can think of is I was cleaning my wires up and decided I wanted to jump my tip over sensor on the main harness instead of the headlight harness and that is when it stopped working. How is that possible?

 

You musta jumped the wrong ones...



Try re-connecting them and see what happens.

 

recheck your tip over sensor or bank sensor or whatever its called

 

turn the killswitch off

 

I just jumped them with a wire then when it didnt work I put it back to original.

The tip over sensor is like it has always been. Is it possible to fry the harness when doing this?

 

my F4i did the same thing.

theres a anti theft diode in the ignition circuit that burnt out on mine.
mine didnt prime . its a lil brown diode in the plastic part of the key cylinder. It makes it so you cant hotwire it at the ignition like the older CBR models. You need a reduced amount of voltate to return to the computer to let it know to power the pump.

I ended up replacing the plastic part of the key switch and it fixed it.

How do I get that part and how do I? change it out

^ Ya all the fuses are good...I finally got some guages and they light up and work and everything but the fuel pump still doesnt prime.

Is there a way to run a diagnostic on using the headers?

 

when you try to start the bike does it crank???

i'm having the same problrm with the fuel pump but mine doesn't do anything when i hit the starter button

 

The bike will crank but the pump does not prime at all so no matter what it wont start.

So you only replaced the bottom piece and didn't have to get a new ignition?

I am going to try a working ignition today and see if thats it. I'll update on what happens.

 

yea man, the mechanical part of the switch that you put the key in is separate.

i replaced the plastic part, where theres a white little slot you can start the bike with a screwdriver

 

^ So you just had to get a special tool to get that part off (looks like a torx bit with a pin in the middle) and that part came off?

I popped my friends ignition on today and the bike works so it has to be that peice.

hey guys i am having the same problem with my 04 gsxr 750 do you think it sould be the same thing. would suzuki and honda both have this problem?

 

if you bypassed/hotwire the suzuki u can kiss ur 12volt regulator/rectifier good bye.

 

Did you smash the ignition on that part? Mine was busted when I looked at it.
