Anybody "build" or assemble a bike outta other salvage part bikes

Just curious to see who has done this i just bought a 2002 F4i that needs all sorts of work WAY more than i initially thought almost feels like i'm building a complete bike. and almost makes me wonder if i could have just bought all the parts (swing, frame, sub, engine, forks, tripple you know) cheaper. Just wondered if anyone has or knows someone who has done this.

Re: Anybody "build" or assemble a bike outta other salvage part bikes

I did it with a couple fiddys. Nothing too expensive there so it worked out great.

I rebuilt my salvage 900RR... yet it was only the front end.

Sometimes it better to chalk up a loss and sell it on Ebay....

Re: Anybody "build" or assemble a bike outta other salvage part bikes

The way i think of it, if i buy a few parts each month like $100-$200 worth it's kinda just like financing a bike except obviously i can't ride it like it is now but oh well. But the plus side is that if for some reason i'm short on cash one month i have no obligations to the bike (meaning no payment to make) Just a thought i guess
