Angry r1 help

Please help before I sell this thing. I have a 04 r1. scorpion exhaust, down one in the front. I love the bike but here’s the problem. I can clutch it up in second no problem, I barely get it in third. Now my buddy has a 05 gsxr 1000. He can roll it up in second; I can’t roll mine, not enough torque that’s why I clutch it up. And in third he can bounce it up at 45mph! Mine, I have to be going at least 70mph before I can try and clutch it up in third. It just feels like there is no torque, until 8 grand. Even in first gear, I have to be going 35 before I can roll on it to get it up, his is like 10 and will roll right up! Is there anything I can do to make up for this torque difference? I’m already down one in the front, I don’t want to get crazy with it, but maybe 2 up in the back? Please help or I’m trading for a gsrx!

use the clutch.... who gives a damn about speed wheelies anyway? if you can clutch it up at 60, then that's the fastest you need to wheelie anyway, and the only reason you need to wheelie going that fast is if there's a group of hot chicks in the car beside you on the highway.

Re: r1 help

i thought it would go up in any gear at any speed too! i tried! by buddy that bounces his gsxr up in third tried, he barely got second up on my bike. what i mean is that bike should have enough torque to just roll the throttle and it should come up. but your right i'll keep practicing, thanks for your help, keep ya posted.

Clutch it! Simple as that! The bike "should" have enough torque? Hell yeah it does!

That bike will put you on your as, at any speed, if you clutch it up!

Re: r1 help

Here's your help, a R1 is not a Gixxer and you are not your friend. So quit comparing different bikes and different riders.

Re: r1 help

I got a 2006 corvette and my buddy rides a XR50. My corvette has 9 pounds per horsepower and the XR50 has 120 pounds per horsepower. How come He can pull it up in second gear and I can't even get the front tires off the ground?

Re: r1 help

MXD, do you make cages for the 04-06 YZF-R1?

Drop the front tooth to a 16, its way better. They come geared way too high.Dont go with the Suzuki, word has it that if breathed on the frames will come apart at the welds.
