f4i not running right...

..I was out riding tonite and once in a while my first gear felt like I was in second or third gear...wtf! I'm working on circles and normally just shoot that bad boy right up but tonite it didn't feel right. Like loss of power Anyone know the cause? could it just be the weather? plugs? any info is appreciated.

also, when I first start the bike up, with the idle set to 3krpm's, it normally runs high like it should at 3krpm. Today it sounded like it was running at 1krpms for a few seconds and then back up to 3k??? just a little more info for ya

Re: f4i not running right...

check your plugs first, sounds like its just not firing right. Not running on all the cylinders all the time. Or maybe a fuel problem (filter plugged), its probably something stupid...

Does it feel real jerky down low and unresponsive and low rpms then fine when you get on it and get into higher rpms?

Do the water spray test on the headers after the bike has been runnin for a bit and see if all of them are working.

Re: f4i not running right...

change the plugs and check your battery terminals. My f4i's used to get corroded battery terminals and it would run like ****. get some sandpaper and scuff the ends of the cables and battery terminals. Also check the ground wire where it grounds to the engine.

Re: f4i not running right...

If the two center cylinders don't pass the spray test its going to be your fuel pressure regulator. Pull the plugs and look at them. If they are all dark and wet it means the fuel pressure regulator is busted and is dumpin too much gas into those cylinders cuasin the bike to ride like ****.
