f4i radiator tab reinforcement..

What all can I do to beef this up? Mine just ripped next to the weld on one of the tabs. I've heard of people reinforcing these, whats the best thing to do?

Re: f4i radiator tab reinforcement..

It can be a pain. I did mine on my 929 but they still have weak points. I couldn't think of a way to reinforce the ring parts. It held up to alot though.

Re: f4i radiator tab reinforcement..

Any other ideas? I'm thinking of just getting some longer pieces of metal, and using 2 strips (bent in l's going in each direction) rather than just one for each tab. I'm not a fabricator, but that seems like it'll make it stronger

Re: f4i radiator tab reinforcement..

drill the other mount out on your frame and use a bolt on both sides. Usually when it rips off it is because the tab side slips off and then rips the other side to pieces.

straps to the bottom=best fix, exhaust (hose) clamps around inlets to frame= temp(or perm) fix

Re: f4i radiator tab reinforcement..

you don't need to tap it.just run a bolt all the way through.i also make the lower brace out of 1/4" steel and chuck the aluminum one,the stock one flex's.
