Pinhole in my Gas tank?

What can I use to seal a few pinholes in my gas tank caused from creasing when denting in my tank last winter? I dont mean around the cap either. Doesnt leak around the cap at all. I siphoned as much of the gas as I could out of the bike. Dented in the tank. Jb welded the few pinholes. Used body filler to smooth out and painted. Tanks sat for weeks with fuel pump out drying. Was fine untill the weather got hot. Started to bubble up in the spots that were jb welded. Saturated the jb weld with gas. Any Ideas besides welding. Not even going there.

you mix the JB enough with the hardner, I have not had any problems where mine creased and JB welded it.

Re: Pinhole in my Gas tank?

I used regular gas tank repair....I think its made by Permatex. Its good stuff. I think it dries harder than JB weld, and it cures really fast. It lookslike a roll of putty, but when you mix it up in your hand, it starts to harden within 5 minutes. Its very much like quicksteel, just easier to find at the hardware or auto parts store.

Re: Pinhole in my Gas tank?

AllMetal - best choice. When it dries it is as hard as steel - you can even thread it. I had the same problem when I dented my tank and I got this from a friend that is a professional body man.

Re: Pinhole in my Gas tank?

Thanks a bunch fellas. I think I'll try one of the suggestions other than jb weld. I was thinking about using the gas tank repair stuff when I started this thread. Was wondering if anyone had used it before. Does anyone know if most gas tanks are made of aluminum or some other type of metal?

Re: Pinhole in my Gas tank?

I used Seal-All, which has worked fine. I bought it at Wal-Mart. It was the least expensive and works under pressure areas. They say it repair gas tanks and so far it proves to have worked. You'd have to read the directions, but they say put a layer, then tape (I used duct tape), seal again, and so on. I say give it a try since it's like 3 bucks.
