i need to replace the stator cover / stator / and flywheel on my 04 gsxr 1000. i have all the new parts, and took off everything except the flywheel. here is the problem,
how do i remove the flywheel from the bike? someone told me i need an impact wrench and flywheel puller? just need to get the new stuff on and get back on the streets. i appreciate any help or information! thanks.
attached is a diagram of the part i am talking about. number 1 is the FLYWHEEL, otherwise known as ROTOR ASSEMBLY

Re: removing flywheel on 04 gsxr 1000
I had he same problem with my 954. I tried pulling it off but just wouldn't budge. I ended up buying the tool from Honda for 10.00 dollars.
Basically the tool is just a threaded piece of steel (the hole in the middle of the flywheel should be threaded) and there is a T-Handle on the end of the tool. Just thread it though until it hits the crank and the wack the handle and the flywheel pops right off.

Re: removing flywheel on 04 gsxr 1000
at least honda has normal thread.(at least so I remember).
You need the puller too after you got that bolt off. Don't try to force it out without the correct tool, or you just mess up the block. Also it's possible to use suitable bolt as a puller too. But it has special thread, so you need to get suitable bolt.
Also the end of the crank may be bent if you have crashed it. I had pretty minor mark on the flywheel, then I dial qauqed the end of the crank, and it's 0.6mm off. Damn. need to deassemble the engine.
