Best way to bash in the tank
my last bike I just wacked away at it with a rubber hammer and the paint chiped and broke off. i've got a new stunt bike now but wona bash the tank in without havin to spray the tank after.
I like to have the tank bashed all the way from front to back so its nice and flat.
Was thinkin a rubber hammer rapped in a towel or somethin, is it best to start from the back, front or side's???
Any help will do, or a free gas tank for a GSXR K1

Im almost wondering about setting a rubber mallet where u want to dent and then hitting the rubber mallet with a dead blow?
I kno if u take your time the phone book hit with a dead blow works mint maybe i can find the pics to it on the local forums here in Rochester...this guys job on his 03' gixxer1k was amazing looked like it didnt need one spec of bondo and paint wasnt even cracked off all he had to do was re-clear coat it.
As for technique from the gas cap and work ur way out

Re: Best way to bash in the tank
Make sure you keep test fitting the tank. By that I mean only dent it in little bits at a time, and then if its a running bike go out and wheelie it if you can. Trust me, it sucks to get a tank that is actually beat in toooo much and you can't find a comfortable spot to sit on the tank. So beat it in little bits at a time and then sit on it and find the spots that need to be taken down and slowly work your way from the middle out.

I used my feet on mine.... but i got a beater so i didnt care that the paint cracked.... But if you didnt want it to crack probaly tape up the gas tank and use a dead blow would be my best guess...

cant deny it, phonebook is the shi t. it still chipped for me a bit but fuuuuukkk it was so much better than just usin a deadblow hit wit a hammer.
