sticky throttle

My throttle isn't snapping back near as quick as it used to. When I turn it, it just sortof debates turning back It'll start turning slowly, stop.. resume turning.. stop, and so on. If I loosen my throttle housing thing, it at least turns all the way back, but it still turns hella slow. What can I do?

Re: sticky throttle

So do I just take apart the housing, take out the cable, and spray some wd40 down it or what?

Re: sticky throttle

pull the grip away from the housing, move the cables where they come out of the housing, sometimes if u just wiggle them or move them just a bit they loosen up

Re: sticky throttle

could be a few things

dirt between the throttle sleave and handle bar
dirty cables
grip hanging up on housing
cable adjustment
dirt inside the housing hanging up in sleave

The grip isn't hanging up on anything, and I don't think it's any dirt. However, the various adjustments around the throttle are sliding around like one of these

Re: sticky throttle

Ended up just being that adjuster at the top line coming out of the throttle housing. It was nearly all the way out. I let it all the way out, sprayed some wd40 in there, and tightened it about 3/4 of the way and it's now butter.

Re: sticky throttle

teflon lubricant is a better choice....... wd-40 is a penetrating oil, and attracts dirt.... therefore worsening the problem eventually.
