Re: Gsx-r Oil Pickup

I rode about an hour on the street with it, that's the longest I've been personally, as long as there's oil up to the sightglass, there should be oil going through the motor.

Re: Gsx-r Oil Pickup

Basically every aftermarket part Ive ever bought for my bike says that on the box or part itself. Put one in my friends bike and he rides mostly street, no problems there......

Re: Gsx-r Oil Pickup

I put it in my friends bike cause he blew his 02 GSXR 6 from street riding(-1 +2 gearing) and small wheelies, bike had 60,000 KM on it and it started to knock. When I took it apart it had a burnt bottom end bearing on #1 rod/crank journal. Pick-up went on an 04 GSXR 6 that we custom fit in his 02 frame, it had 161 Miles on it when we got it and the pickup went in right away. Hes 1 down and 60 teeth on the rear and the bike does alot of street and highway and a bunch of lot stuff. Id say it has about 25,000+ KM and its still going strong, cam chain makes noise but thats another issue.

When I put the 04 motor in the oil light would come on in a 12, after we installed the pickup it wouldn't and I swear the motor feels smoother in a wheelie.

I need to take ryan's email off of the site. He still doesnt know how to check it.. lol. And you are right its just a little side thing. I try to check my mail at least once a day.

Ryan handles the shipping now. Big scott at stunters.com / stuntspot.com handles orders. I can answer any questions outside of that. Hit me up anytime at lb3@stuntex.com

I agree, it feels like it's running a lot smoother in wheelies than it was before.

Re: Gsx-r Oil Pickup

thats the first thing most people notice right off the bat. the reason it runs smooth is because even though your oil light might not have been on before you installed it you were running seriously low oil pressure. The light only comes on when there is no pressure. Its not a low pressure warning light. Now that it has normal oil pressure on one wheel it runs like it is supposed to. Kinda scary huh?

Re: Gsx-r Oil Pickup

racers hittin 200mph runnin simalar setups and they seem to be ok

granted they're not pullin whoolies 24/7 but there still pullin serious g's and that pushes the oil to the back just like a whoolie

Re: Gsx-r Oil Pickup

also another trick you can do yourself if you got a lil mechanical ability is,
go to your local hotrod shop and check out a moroso oil pan or any race/high performance pan and you'll see a plate/shield setup that keeps the oil in and it can only go out threw the pick up,you can make a simalar setup yer self with some steet metal or sheet aluminum, and just basicly put it inbetween the oil pan and case like a gasket, after you cut it to go around the crank and all that good stuff but you get my point. anyway just a cheap doit yerself way to help keep the oil where it belongs and keep from having to overfill the motor so much

Re: Gsx-r Oil Pickup

I have a pickup in my 05 gsxr600 and I get the light on during stoppies. This is with the oil level just over the viewing window. I havent worried about it yet because the engine is idleing and not under any load but it could make a difference over time. Anyone have a solution for this problem?

Re: Gsx-r Oil Pickup

moving the oil pickup is give and take. Dont worry about stoppies unless you are like ryan and doing revlimiter stoppies. The only thing you can do to never low oil pressure is figure out how to make a dry sump system which in the end would be cheaper to just replace motors.

Re: Gsx-r Oil Pickup

gotta love those pickups, dont need em though, unless you scrape for miles and miles straight up n down.

Now i have a question, Honda has it right, pickup in the back, why dont all companies change to it?

Re: Gsx-r Oil Pickup

I got an 01 gixxer 750 how do you keep the oil from flooding the airbox? Do you connect or loop the hoses that go to the airbox from the engine, also do you have to still do this if you put in a extended oil pick-up.....lastly do you need to run more oil in the bike for these modes. I just switched to a gixxer and already blew the freakin motor!
