Billet Aluminum Stator Cover 929

So who runs these covers? Are they worth the $$? For those random occasions when my FI cage likes to bump the stock cover so slightly it cracks like an egg...I also dont want to hear "shoulda bought (insert cage name here)" ...Found this on ebay for 130 bucks-and I don't think woodcraft manufactures 929 stator covers--I tried getting one about a year ago and they were'nt available...

Re: Billet Aluminum Stator Cover 929

929 blocks crack easily... i'd rather break a stator cover than the block..... (again)

Re: Billet Aluminum Stator Cover 929

I think it would be much harder to break the block with the impact spreading around the circumference of the billet stator cover if that makes any sense (of course this is with the cage on the bike). Im worried about busting my crank too with the stock cover pressing the stator into the crank....so either way its a lose/lose situation.

Re: Billet Aluminum Stator Cover 929

I found a company called "Billet Tech" that makes these covers:
165 bucks for the aluminum finish--180 for the titanium/black finish:

Re: Billet Aluminum Stator Cover 929

I run billet covers on every bike Ive ever owned Circuit1, Billet tech, and Woodcraft are all Ive tried so far. For the price Billet tech was the best but the woodcrafts are pretty with the removable slider. Ive cracked way too many stator covers in my day to even bother with stock covers.

It should be much harder to crack your cases with a billet cover because in order for the cases to crack the cover would have to give, and thats not going to happen. Like you said the load is spread out around the cover, and the cover wont crack pulling a piece of the cases with it.The most damage Ive done to the engine with a billet cover is bending the alignment pins from a really hard drop, didnt eve leak just tweaked a bit.

Re: Billet Aluminum Stator Cover 929

Awesome....sounds like this is definitly the way to go...im ordering one of the billet tech pieces here shortly--165 for the aluminum finish is decent pricewise.
