Painting flat black

I was considering painting my f4i flat black this winter. What all do I need to do to do this? I've never done any painting on bikes so would it be better to just take it somewhere and have them do it or should I give it a stab by myself? And if anyone has pics of flat black painted bikes thatd be awesome.

Exactly.

Heres my dirtbike with VERY minimum prep, and 2 or 3 cans of Krylon Fusion.

If you want, sand all the old paint off with like a palm sander or orbitalsander, and throw on a few coats of primer. Then sand the primer with a highgrit paper, and throw on a good number of LIGHT coatings of paint. Just doing a lot of 'dustings' with a ghetto rattlecan does the trick just fine.

Quick cleaning..Then whipe it down with some paint thinner/acetone (be carefull, acetone will eat plastic up if you're not carefull)...

Re: Painting flat black

I did my 929 flat black, take all the plastic off, wet sand it, then mist the paint on there very lightly..just like that other cat said just dust it on there each time, i had some cracks in my plastic so i got that plastic weld stuff at walmart and did it up like that, then sanded it down..worked great...Krylon is the bomb by the way....if ur gonna pay to get it hosed use dupont hot rod black with flat clear coat...i dont have the number off hand but i can get it to u
