No Handers
No Handers
Ok so I got 12's and scrapin down (929) thats all fine, but I cant get even one hand off. I was told to just go for it which is all good but when im in the 12 just on the idle I feel like the only thing holdin me on is my hands, like im leaning back or something and if I take a hand off Ill just slip right off. I have tried leaning forward to take the wieght off my hands too but it still feels the same.
what am I missing here???

Re: No Handers
Are you trying them standing up or sitting down? If you are standing in a staggered stance (right foot on brake and left on passenger peg), then put your left foot in the spot where the drivers seat goes up to the passenger seat. This will take a lot of pressure off of your arms. Try to almost completely extend your left leg after you get it up on the seat and put most of your weight on it. Once you can keep the bike up on the idle, let go and grab onto the front end of the bike with your throttle hand and let go of the clip on with your left hand. Now work on positioning yourself so that you don't have any pressure on your right arm while holding onto the front end of the bike (leaning forward slightly with your upper body seems to help). Once you get that down, let go completely, but keep your right hand close to the front end, so you can grab back on if you feel like you are going to fall back. When your hands are off, use your legs and your hips to help steer the bike and try to be real light on the brake. It also seems to help you stand up straight while doing a no hander if you place your left foot more towards the center of the seat. It is easier to do a standup nohander with your foot in the twelve bar or subframe, but I think it seems to look better with your foot in the seat. Keep practicing and you will get the feel for it after awhile.
For sit down no handers, slide back so that your lower back rests up against the back of the drivers seat where it goes up to the passenter seat. Get the bike up on the idle and lean forward with your upper body so that you are a few inches from the tank. You should not have much pressure on your hands now. Practice letting go of the throttle and grabbing onto the triple clamp. Once you get this down, just let go with both hands and use your upper body to steer the bike. Keep your hands close to the clipons at first so you can grab back on if you feel like you are falling back. Some people hook their foot under the left footpeg to help them hold onto the bike. You really don't need to do that unless you are trying to lean back and touch the ground with your hand. Again practice makes perfect. Someone else might be able to explain it better, but I tried to break it down the best I could. Do a search and you will find more tips on this topic, since it has been posted before. Good luck, and post some pics up once you get them on lock...

Re: No Handers
good looking out. So I guess I should go out tomorrow and practice one foot on the seat.....then sitting since that seams to be easier.....I have never even tried sitting 12's.
I have tried with one foot on the seat but it feels like im squating down and cant get my leg extended. I guess I just need more time in the saddle.
Could learn it a little better if Mikey would get off his *** and help out a bit - f^&*%

Re: No Handers
well I dont have enough room for my foot back thier, I guess its time to cut the plastic some more though huh.......Im worried about going down and getting stuck in the bar, has this been a problem for you guys??
Re: No Handers
no i use the bar all the time . i just get it so my toes are about even with the bottom of the bar so if i need to bail it will be effortless. but they are right when using your 12 bar it gives u more rom to play around and almost all your weight will be on the bar so your hands are free to do what ever
Re: No Handers
Also don't try to do one handers fisrt (letting go of left hand) , instead do no throttle handers first...why? because if you try to remove your left hand, and you still have no NH on lock, you will be putting more preassure on throttle hand and therefore having worse throttle control. When you catch idle just let go of throttle hand and concentrate on working the RB...it's acctually easy. When I was starting it, I would try to remove my left hand and my throttle would become choppy as hell...fist time I tried I ****ed up my tail...

I definately thought of that already since I feel that im pulling back, that would be no good. I got my subframe back together and left my brake light and plastics off so I can fit a foot in so Now I can go out and try it.
