Spongy Hand Brake.asking too much???

I got a ducati hydro clutch. Finally got my dual caliper set up done. It's on my 954, but it doesn't feel as firm as my front brake lever??

I bleeded the lines..over and over. etc.....

I don't know what to expect, because there's no one here w. a hand brake. I'm having 2nd thoughts and kicking myself for not pick'n up the 929/954 front master brake......Am I just asking too much off the ducati unit???

Should I just swap it out for a honda unit???

If you're running a dual caliper setup, the lever should be pretty firm....just like the front brake. I have the fitting set up on mine, and it's still pretty solid. I think you should switch m/c's......alot of guys with the Duc m/c say its spongy.

Re: Spongy Hand Brake.asking too much???

try using zip ties to hold the lever really tight against the grips overnight. I did that with my single caliper set-up, it's rock solid and works perfect....and its the first time I have ever bleed brakes before, was a suggestion from a friend. Give it a shot before you spend anymore money.....oh yeah, I have a GSXR1000 master cylinder (14mm) too tho

Re: Spongy Hand Brake.asking too much???

works fine....all it is, is a Nissin 14mm (or 5/8") front brake master cylinder bled right side up, then flipped upside down. IT WAS spongey when I first bled it, and for a day or two after, but then I remembered a buddy from ruff ryders (Sugg) showed me how to tighten up my front brakes after he bled them.....he uses rope, I set it on like four then he had me squeeze it in as tight as possible and hold it, then he tied it off getting it a lil tighter, left it over night. the next day, set on 3 it was tighter and smoother than anyone elses brakes set on 1 or 2!!!!! I did the same to my handbrake, will lock the back tire up with one finger and medium to low pressure!

not a clue....see if it reads Nissin down the side, then it should have a size on it. Didn't remember to look and dbl check the size of mine. Bill at fullthrottle told me one was better than the other, but I do remember the sizes were 14mm and 5/8",....not sure which is better, but he told me the one I had was the better one. I got it free from a friend so I was fine with the crappier one
