900rr wont run on the bar

I am so sick of my 900rr running like poop when it is low on gas.

when my gas tank is like 1 gallon short of a full tank it stalls out when I am at the balance point of a wheelie. it sucks because if I ride streets I can only rock out for about 20 minutes until it startd to stall out. And even if the tank was full it never runs on the bar. What is the problem with the fuel delivery system. Is ith the pet **** in the tank not giving the carbs enough gas at 12 or is it the carbs themselves. I have heard rumores of bending the floats in the carbs so they hold more gas and drilling a hole at the front of the gas tank so gas will flow faster. Cany anyone help a brother out with this.

tonyd, ronnie reality help

Re: 900rr wont run on the bar

I think it's normal for carbed bikes do die when they are on the bar- so it's the carbs themselves as you mentioned. There isn't really a solution for it, other than to get a fuel injected bike. Mine shuts up after 10s on the bar, well depends how full my gas tank is- the fuller the better it runs. But mine does't stall/die when doing bp wheelies. There has been handfull of threads about this issue so I suggest doing a search for 900rr. Or if the master of the 900rr TonyD could point out a solution

Re: 900rr wont run on the bar

thanks for the reply. I know it will always stall on the bar no matter what I do but what really gets me down is when I fill the tank then ride for 20 minutes and I will be doing just a regular spreader or seat stander and you can feel it start to die out and as soon as I put it down it gets the gas it needs and runs fine. I dont understand why it needs to have a full to the brim tank. Its almost as my tank isn't flowing fast enough. I am such a dumbass I forgot to do a thread search first.
I sent tony d and reality a message so I hope to hear from them

Run it with the Reserve on and keep it topped off. That should help a little.

You could switch the bike to fuel injection and we would all be happy and problem solved but i doubt u wanna spend that much cash.

Re: 900rr wont run on the bar

mine runs surprisingly good on the bar for a lil while.

if i stay on the gas it keeps running while still on the bar but if i let it just idle it stalls.

but now its getting finnicky... yesterday wit almost a full tank it started to sputter while i was doing some random slow stuff...

i read a post with details on how to adjusts and modifiy your carbs so it will stay runing on the bar.. it even had pics of how to do it... but ever since i tried to find it again and no luck ??!!

**** even if i found it i dont think i could do what it was asking anyways...

he was heating up ... the floats? i thnk and bending em...??
and midifing the needle or something... ?? i forget..

u gotta luv the dub r.... if they made a 2006 fuel injected version id go and pick it up in a min !

Re: 900rr wont run on the bar

only reason why i dont do bar tricks with mine lol..........i had a fuel pump from my old R1 i was gonna put on there to try and pump the fuel into the carbs. if u go on e-bay and pick one up from anything for like 5 bucks. its gotta be an external pump though...not sure if will deliver to much gas to the carbs and flood it out though. someone try it and let me know?
