maintainance?

ok i know most you guys ride crunchy pieces but few you guys gotta have street bikes. my bike isnt crunchy yet and im still kinda stuck in the 90s w/ the high speed las vegas videos and doing the long highspeed highway ****. but im working on slowing it down and destroying my bike. anyways i have an 03 gsxr 1000 w/ 8k on it. i never took it in for any valve maintance or whatever they do. i change the oil, fill the gas and beat it. is that service important? valve adjustment or anything else im missing. my friend poped the motor on his gsxr 600 and made me think? that oil pick up thing a good idea? and where u getting them from?

Re: maintainance?

you can just take it in to the shop for 8k service. im not sure if they will do the 2k & 4k services at the same time though. if so, its gonna cost. otherwise, you can just ask them to do the valves. call the dealer up or check your service manual for valve adjustment intervals.

Re: maintainance?

valves are supposed to be done at like 600 and then every 15k after that. If you don't here them ticking though they're almost always fine.
