Will 04 gsxr 750 subframe fit 04 gsxr1000 ?

Man it looks pretty close on the bikes...I need a new subframe for my 04 gsxr1000 and have a line on a 04 750 gsxr subframe...Looks like it might fit but not sure...Has anyone done this ?

the subframe will bolt up, but making the 1000 tail and seats fit is a *****... if you can get 750 tail and seats with it, it makes it a lot easier of a swap! but in a pinch i think you could make the 1000 stuff work. But to answer the question again, YES the 750 sub WILL bolt up to a 1000 frame and vice versa.

Oh and just so you know, the 1000 subs are stronger, they are made of square alum stock that is bent and welded together, like the '02 subs, whereas the new 600 and 750 subs are cast, they break EASY!!!

yeah, i wouldn't do any bar tricks or anything, they are WEAK!!! ed tapped his bar on the street ('04 750) and it just collapsed and he ate ****! lucky he didn't get really hurt! even re-inforced they are weak! i would definately look for another 1000 one and keep the 750 sub for a spare!!!

are the new 1000 subs better or are they cast like the 600/750? you guys got pics of the reinforcing? I need some ideas to compare what I've been planning against.

Damn that doesnt sound good at all !! I think I will steer clear of those all together...I aint good enuff to keep it off the bar all day and buddy is charging me $200 for the mint 750 sub...Which is fine if I thought it would at least survive a few panic moves...lol...

Cheers

200 isn't bad for one of them... and you can weld and plate it if you DO end up breaking it... but i would definately try to get the 1000 one! LOL

or go buy a 636 or a F4i, LOL

Re: Will 04 gsxr 750 subframe fit 04 gsxr1000 ?

Man dont even start with the f4i 636 thing...My garage is full of gixxer partz..Most of it tortured pieces of gixxer1000's from the last 2 years of the stunt game...But they keep me going when I need a spare...Unfortunatley I am down to my last subframe and that is now looking like a welded creation from Monster garage...
One of our guys just bought a 2002 f4i and he luvs it...I guess I am fighting the inevitable..It just that Tim and I both have 03 1000's with identical setup so it makes it real easy to swap bikes and parts when needed...It would be real hard to start all over with a 600 kawi or Honda just b/c I would start with 0 parts again...
I know you made the switch so I'm sure you understand what I mean..

Cheers
