Re: 94 Zx9r Help??

why would you try slow stuff in 2nd on that armored veichle? Slow stuff is done in first, even in hella geared new bikes...

Re: 94 Zx9r Help??

use first gear. There's no such thing as too much torque

Re: 94 Zx9r Help??

You want to go -1 +10 just to make second gear easier to come up

Just practice

You're a dumbass. -1 +10 will make 2nd gear like first gear. Now get your head out of your ***; you don't need sprockets.

I would think that this would be extremely obvious but I have been suprised by how many people just dont understand the concept of gearing a bike.

he is just trying to help, and if I were you I would listen. As I understand it, you are just trying to learn wheelies, and I guess people who stunt for a few years know a little better...

First of all, gearing has it's purpose and you missunderstood it. You don't need gearing until you are ready for technical stuff, and even most of that can be done stock...and don't think all of stunters over here learned it easy way by just putting some gearing on. As a matter a fact gearing will make your bike twitchy and if you are not supersmooth on throttle it will only do problems to you.

And I'm not b|tching or anything, just trying to help...cuz we are here to help each other...

that is my point i need halp and someone has to be a smart ***. my bike will not come up in second unless you clutch the crap out of. ive had other riders that can stunt try and they will contest. i want it to come up in second without clutch. is the hard to explain??? but i only want to by sprockets 1 time. so after i want to pull up in 3- 4 th gear. tahts means i would like to go up more then teh norm of -1+2. now can i get help and not smartasss

If you weren't a dumbass, you wouldn't get smartass responses.
Oh and use the damn clutch; that's what it's there for. I can't power my bike up in second...

Re: 94 Zx9r Help??

I have a 2000 zx9 and when I got it it had -1 +5, to be exact 15 / 46.
It would power up in 2nd if I brought the rpms up to 8 or so and snaped on it.
But I think the 2000 has more HP and may be a few pounds thinner.

I would suggest going -1 / +5 at least, or just try to find a ratio that is at or just over 3.2ish it should get you the 2nd gear power wheelies you want.... also make sure you jetting is right, valves and cam are adjusted and timed correct. Any of these things can rob hp and you will need every available one for this..... Good Luck. Oh yeah your speedo will be way off after doing this too... so you will want a friend to ride next to, and mark or mental note your speeds so you know how fast your really going for when the are on you ***.....

I just recently changed to 16 / 45 and it is a much more friendly bike, no more searching for 7th gear.

Re: 94 Zx9r Help??

if you change the gearing second will be too torquey like first is with stock gearing. so third will be more like second used to be and you will have the same problem over again, and you will increase the rpms at cruising speeds. if however you want to do some research on the gear ratios of each gear of your bike you can calculate a sprocket that will make the second gear ratio about halfway between what first and second are stock. to do this just multiply the gear ratios by the sprocket ratios and find the overall ratios for first and second. then then pick an overall ratio between those two and divide by the second gear ratio and you have the sprocket ratio you need to buy. your grade school teacher were right math can solve a lot of problems.

Re: 94 Zx9r Help??

I knew this would happen. Why didn't you just buy the sprockets you were planning to buy anyway without coming here. You can always find someone here to agree with you (who may, or may not know anything about stunting) regardless of whether you're right or wrong.
