Help on building a cage

Just like the title said. I have a 95 YZF 600r, and im looking into building a cage for it. Has anyone ever made their own cage for their Yzf? Are their any guide line to follow when building one, like number of mounting spots and such? I am very handy with a welder and pipe bending, so the building process will be easy.

Re: Help on building a cage

You want the mounting points to be the motor mounts. Those will be the strongest points. Once you get 4 sliders (two on each side of the bike; one front, one back), just connect them. Figure out how the bar will be the least in your way. Trust me, you'll bruise your shins up the first week until you get used to it. I have yet to build a YZF cage, but have built a 954 cage and a GSXR1000 cage. Good luck!

You Can Try Bubble Wrap. L O L What Spped2dirt Said. Also Make Sure You Use A Hard Enough Washer When You Weld To The End Of Your Pipe, To Prevent It From Bending When You Do Lay It Down.

On The End Of The Pipe Were It Connects To The Engine Mount. The Part Were The Bolt Actually Goes Through.

Re: Help on building a cage

Washers are easier and light. I actually used nuts and ground them until they were round and fit in the pipe. Then just drill the threads until the bolt barely fits through. The tighter, the better. You don't really want any play in the bolt.

Thanks SWAT. The bubblewrap idea is genius! When the bike goes down, you can have all the popping fun. haha!
