03 gsxr 1000 shut down???
I was out riding around sat. night and I was getting on it on 95 and my bikes FI came on and that red light and check engine light came on. I was a little low on oil, and stopped and put some in, a little less the half a qt. I have taken it easy since then and it has been cool, do bikes shut down as a precaution or do I need to get it checked out??
Thanks,
Thanks,

no, the bike will not shut down, even if there is NO oil in it, it will simply blow up (by this i mean you will spin a crank bearing)
if it was only 1/2 qt low, then you have no worries, your motor is fine!

So let me make sure i understand... you were riding and the FI light came on, the bike shut down, so you topped off the oil and it started right back up!
If that is the case, likei said earlier, it didn't die cause of lack of oil, that won't happen. Sounds like something went wrong with the FI. (you just happend to notice the oil thing cause you were lookin at the bike, lol) Next time the FI light comes on, dont turn the bike off, leave ignition on and run codes (carry and extra key so you can get into the trunk) and find the white plug that has two wires coming from it. have a small piece of wire with you too! simply connect the two sides of the plug together (complete the circuit on the white plug) and your guage will go into dealer mode. then C00 will come up if there is nuthin wrong with your bike, but if the FI light is on you are going to get codes, for example, C42 (maybe 41) on the dash is the fuel pump relay, time to replace that part. See how that works! try it next time you have a chance, then carry the extra key and a piece of wire so that when the FI light comes on you can run codes before turning your key off and then you will know what is wrong with your bike. Call the dealership and they can look up what number=what wrong with the bike!

Yeah, that is exactly what hapened, it actually happened again when I was about to get off on my exit a 20 minutes or so after I put the oil in. The bikes only got about 55 thousand miles on it. I also have a Pwr Com on it, could that have anything to do with it? I will be sure to take a spare and check it out. Thanks again.

yeah, do what i told you, see what code it gives you next time it happens.
If you can't firgure it out, unhook the PC and put the wiring back to stock (wires into stock ECU, eliminate PC) cause i have seen a couple PC's that made bikes run like crap!
