Tank/Seat Standers
Tank/Seat Standers
Hey this is a long post and im sorry in advance but umm I have one of those cheap pocket bikes from pep boys because I'm only 15 and my dad won't let me get a real bike because insurance. I got it Thursday and I have high chairs down (not wheelie ones) and I can stand on the pegs with no hands but I'm running out of things I can do with it. I can't do anything on one wheel which sucks because it doesn't have enough power and centrifugal (spelling?) clutch and the front brakes are good enough for stoppies. I was thinking tank/seat standers but about how fast do I have to be going to be stable for them (my dad told me to be really safe on it haha I just wanna minimize risk because he'll kill me if I drop it stunting) and like any tips/advice? I was also thinking of like going but sitting on the seat backwards but I think ill eff that up at least once trying it so any other cool stunts that are somewhat possible for me let me know. Thanks! (Sorry for the long post and grammar)
Re: Tank/Seat Standers
How would I go about learning that? Oh ya and by tank/seat standers I meant the bike be on both wheels but me standing on the tank and/or seat, wasn't sure if seat standers meant doing a wheelie while on the seat but thanks.
Re: Tank/Seat Standers
I had a pocketbike and could do wheelies. I just yanked up really hard on the bars and leaned back. I wrecked a lot. You'll trash the tail learning where the balance point is on those things. Do you have the really small one or the super pocket bike? I think it might be easier on the larger one. You should sell the pocket bike and get one of those crf50 chinese knockoffs from ebay. You could learn a lot more on one of those.
Re: Tank/Seat Standers
unless it's electric, than it'll wheelie.
just go at a medium speed, cut the throttle off, then open the throttle up, yank as hard as you can on the bars, and lean back.
also, sit back as far as you can in te seat too.
you'll loop a couple times on it learning, but it's fun.

Re: Tank/Seat Standers
I've never tried to wheelie it TOO hard but I'll try again, should I put one foot on the back of the seat? Like sort of stagered (spelling) so i can put wait on the back? Plus when I tried it was from about 5 mph but it took a while for the clutch to engage. BTW it's one of the bigger ones, super pocket bike or whatever. But back to the original question, any hints on how to stand on the seat while its rolling? And about how fast should I be going to do it, thanks.
Re: Tank/Seat Standers
it has so little mass that a little too much pressure on one foot or the other will make it go way over to that side, stick with wheelies.
Is it a 3 speed? I know some of them are and you can get it inbetween gears and rev it, and then click it into gear and it's like popping the clutch. Other than that just what they said, chop the throttle, bounce suspension if it has it, and hank real hard, and cover the back brake to, if you learn brake control now you'll be ahead of the game when you get a real bike.
Oh, and get a job so you can pay insurance, then get a 600.

Re: Tank/Seat Standers
It has a CVT (continuous variable transmission) it just has belts and **** in there that move around so its a stepless automatic the only time it revs is when its still but as the revs get higher it slowly engages so i can't launch it. I tried earlier with the wheelie and I got it up somewhat but it doesnt wanna stay up I think the tranny isn't picking up fast enough. But I'm working on the job this summer.
Re: Tank/Seat Standers
i started savin at the age of 15, actually 14, def get a job, sell anything u can and put every penny u towrds the bike..itll be hard with, goin to the movies, and the malll... ikno thats big at ur age. but trust me its worth it. then buy a 600. good luck

and why the hell are you affraid to wheelie this toy? And since when are highchairs riding w/ legs over bars...
...and yes, seat standers reffer to acctually riding a wheelie in that position...
Re: Tank/Seat Standers
Haha, It's not that I'm exactly afraid to wheelie it. It's more of the fact that it weighs 100 pounds and has about 2 horsepower, and a centrifugal clutch. Oh ya sorry I don't know the exact stunter vocab
but thanks guys.
