Re: making exhaust quiter??

I doubt anyone took anything out of your slip on, D&D's are just obnoxiously (that's an understatement) loud.

If you want something that has a good sound that isn't too loud look into Akrapovic.

It's really a tossup for me, I prefer the sound of an aftermarket exhaust, but sometimes you just don't want to be loud, like when you're pulling in your driveway at night.

Re: making exhaust quiter??

the only reason i think ne one took something out is cuz my friend had bought a 97 yzf600r and mines 2001 and he put a D&D on and mine was still alot louder. I really didnt want to buy a new exhaust cuz i dont have the money but yet i wanted it alittle quiter. and i dont want to put the stock one on cuz i like the sound of the aftermarket

Open it up and check out the packing....
The packing in a can will go south after about 10,000 or so miles, sometimes sooner.
While it's open repack it, it's cheap and not hard to do.
D&D's are just loud....

ya just go to any motor cycle shop they sell muffler packing. its like a fiberglass cloth all you do is wrap it around the metal insert, shove it back in close it all up and your ready to go. some even have directions to tell you exactly how to do it.

Re: making exhaust quiter??

you will have to drill out the rivets then re-rivet it when you are done. I had to get a big rivet gun cause the rivets on the yosh slipon I had were pretty big.
