2nd gear wheelies

I have a 02 gsx-r 600 -1 in the front and +3 on the back and i still can't get the fukin thing up in 2nd gear. 1st gear i can do at any speed but 2nd i try it going fast and i try going slow and i can only get it up about 3 inches off the ground. and yes i do use the clutch. so what am i doing wrong.

A little less clutch and stay on the gas. Don't forget to roll off the gas as it gets higher.

More throttle and quicker clutch.

Re: 2nd gear wheelies

that'll come right up, standup, stand staggered, go at like 5-6k, rev to like 10-11k and drop the clutch, should come right up. If not then bounce and clutch.

Re: 2nd gear wheelies

A little off topic, but I have an 01 gsxr600. I was thinking of going +2 in the back, would the stock chain be ok with that?? or Would I have to put the front -1?

Re: 2nd gear wheelies

More throttle. You have to be staggered if you aren't using lots of throttle. Don't be scared of how much throttle you giving it as long as your in the 5000rpm and up range. but make sure you let some off when it comes up.

Re: 2nd gear wheelies

I had the problem with my R6, but if I use more gas and faster clutch it comes up a little at first, then at 8k it bounces right up...a little nerve racking at first.

I went up 6 in the rear and down 1 in the front and kept my stock chain. on my 02 gixxer 750

So I would think +2 in the rear would be fine with a stock chain.

Re: 2nd gear wheelies

stand up and committ to leaning back. Leaning back was the hardest part.

Re: 2nd gear wheelies

I have a completley stock 03 gsxr 600 stand up second gear for about a mile, dead serious, not the bike so keep practicing and you will be fine, no clutch on my end by the way, never clutched a wheelie before. I guess it's just preference.

I don't think anyone shifts anymore. You can ride bp for miles.
