How to tell if forks are straight

I bought some 954 forks on ebay for my f4i front end conversion. They didn't come with a top triple tree. Is their a way to tell if they're straight? If they are bent, will it be obvious? I am still looking for an upper triple so how can I tell until I get one?

You'd be able to tell if they were bent I think.

Re: How to tell if forks are straight

take your front tire off, compress each fork individually, as long as they don't get stuck and rebound, you're good

Re: How to tell if forks are straight

yeah, if they look straight and both compress and rebound good, and no leaks, then you're straight!

Re: How to tell if forks are straight

I think even honda service manual allows couple on millimeters bend.

You can check it by putting the the fork lower leg to a vice, then turn the top around and checking does it turn straight. Then attact it from the top part and turn the bottom part around...
