brake fluid question
in advanced wheelies for dummies they say to use brake fluid that has a 500 degree boiling point i have been all over looking for some and cant find anything with 500 degree boiling point could someone tell me what to get or where i can get it from thanks
Re: brake fluid question
Here is the deal, use what your manual calls for. Stock fluid is good, bellray is excellent. Don't worry about fluid that much. If you want to make it more responsive add braided lines.
Don't ever ever ever use a DOT spec that your system is not designed for like putting DOT 4 In a DOT 5 system. Unless you like crashing. IF and I'll say that again IF you have a DOT 4 system be careful when changing it or adding DOT 4 will strip paint, or screw up plastic so fast you won't even have time to wipe it off.

ok this is what you want to do MJTRIM if you really want the answer to what Kyle Woods was talking about just go to the trippleXtreem web site find his email address and drop him a line ask him what exactly he runs trust me he will reply i have sent him a few eamails myself he always answers....i if i recall corectly he told me once when i asked him about suspension and break setup for stoppies "bleed tha breaks and add DOT4 fluid lower tha front susspension 1/2 inch (thats half NOT 1-2)"

Re: brake fluid question
as R1Alvin said motul RBF(race brake fliud) 600 got a boiling point of 576 degrees which i think is one of the best brake fluids i've ever saw !
also i think Mobil 1 has got the same boiling point brake fluid

Re: brake fluid question
RBF600 is the only way to go
Re: brake fluid question
The previous owner of my 954 put dot 3 in it, I didn't notice until I found the bottle he gave me with the bike. That would have been awesome if I took it to the track like I planned on and lost my brakes at 150mph though!
Re: brake fluid question
dot 3,4 and 5.1 are all the same fluid EXCEPT[I][U] for boiling point (higher the # the higher the boiling point)
dot 5 is synthetic and should not be used in dot 3,4,5.1 systems unless you have flushed/replaced all parts with dot 3,4,5.1 brake fluid free parts (basically dont mix them)

Re: brake fluid question
heres the deal....dot 3,4,and5.1 are all glycol based and they all absorb water.dot 5 is silicon based and does not absorb water so therefore keeps a higher boiling point over time.so you say 5 dot must be the best choice, but not nessarily cuz it can leave you with a spongy lever plus dot 5 isnt compatible with dot3,4,and5.1 and may not be compatible with your brake system seals and what not also you have to completely flush all the old dot 4 fluid out cuz it wont mix with dot 5 and may clot.....according to belray's site www.belray.com (check this site out)in alot of cases dot 4 and 5.1 have higher boiling points than dot 5.the advantage of dot5 is the it wont ruin paint cuz its silicon based.......................try looking on ebay for brake fluid theres is a seller that sells different brands and list there dry and WET boiling points which is very important to fluid life.about the brand kyle woods was talking about think he said super dot 4 which is made buy belray and should be easy to find on the internet or dennis kirk.
