CBR1000rr
Re: CBR1000rr
Learn how to drive it first. Even 954 is insanely fast bike, 1000RR even more so.
It will wheelie, but one of my 954 driving friends said after testdriving the 1000RR, that it's not so eager to wheelie as 954. throttle is smoother.
I usually power wheelie by snapping it up. It's better then WOT it and wait untill you are on your back. snap the throttle slighly, NO WOT. this will start the front to lift, then just feather the throttle to the point you want the power wheelie to stay.
But these bikes are geared so high that even taking the power wheelie to red line at first means that you have 100mph speed. Which is not good when you drop it with jeans and t-shirt.
Clutch it up. Less speed=better. everyone can power wheelie, it takes no skill.

Re: CBR1000rr
great info guys, but i dont really buy the whole breaking it in for an extended period of time thing...
honda suggests a 600 miles service for a reason...if it required any more, they certainly would recommend more.
myself, along with many, many racers that i know literally broke our bikes in on the track because they never made it from the showroom to the street...never a problem among them, and a few of my friends hold lap records up here and have won nat'l championships, etc.
my own experience says, vary the shifting, vary the rpms, no problem gonig to redline, just dont hold it there for extended periods of time. wheelies certainly aren't very good for a bike at all, especially brand new, but again, i know guys wheelies literally off the showroom floor with no problems later on.
clutchless shifting is NOT bad for the bike if done CORRECTLY...i cant really remember the last time i consistently used the clutch up shifting, hell half the time i dont use it downshifting...you can learn to do this, but it is more difficult and def not very good for the tranny...
for the most part these bikes, especially hondas, are pretty darn bulletproof.
anyways, good reading, good advice, my two pennies

Re: CBR1000rr
I seated the rings on mine within the first 20 miles, several 1st 2nd and 3rd gear rolls ons to 8k and back down to idle, and then at 15 miles took it up to 10k, then pretty much did what I wanted with it (not redline) I have since taken it to redline with 600 miles but I had my service done..
I just had it dynoed today and it made 103hp (5280 elevation). I might try again in another 1000 miles.
Oh yeah 05 636 with euro spec ECU mod, otherwise stock.

Re: CBR1000rr
Well guys, I got my 1000rr, and its absolutely superb, breaking it in as advised, done 175 miles so far on it over the weekend, but the weather over here in the UK aint been that good so far.............got it booked in for the first service.....so gonna be breaking it in properly till at least then................and as for the throttle wheelies as per my first question that started the post..........had it up in second off the throttleclosing it and snapping it open a bit so at least I know now it will definately come up on the throttle....................
But I have been reading all the clutch wheelie advice on this site and have now seen the light and realised that this is the way to do it.............I have had a little go in second clutching it but as Im not taking it over 6 thou revs its not coming up...........any advice as to what speed/revs I should be trying it in 2nd gear when its broken in?????
Lastly , anyone thinking of getting one....you wouldnt be dissappointed.......they are superb, once my tyres were scrubbed in I got it knee down at the first attempt, which is something I can do better than wheelies at the moment..........and of all the bikes I have owned, ZX7R, TL1000R, YZF R1 and 2 GXR750R wt's, its by far the best bike I have ever owned/ridden

Re: CBR1000rr
as soon as you turn the bike on open the throttle full letting it bang off the limiter, hold it until the bike warms up. then you add some oil to your gas tank, not to much, not to little. once you see smoke coming out your exhaust your bike will be fully broken in. should take no longer than 10 minutes.
Re: CBR1000rr
Hi Guys, still not having any luck clutching it up in second......can do it in first no problem...........but it just kinda jumps a bit when i do it in second..........what am i doing wrong?........not enough revs?......clutch out to quick or slow?............what do you experts think?
