Trouble Starting
Trouble Starting
So heres the situation....I am riding a '95 Kawasaki ZX6R and the bike will start 50% of the time, and other times I have to pop the clutch to get her running. The cold usually doesnt make a difference and I am not sure what the problem is. I havent ever had this problem and its not a loose battery connection.
If anyone has any clue or has any tests or suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Not enough info.
Turn over slow??
Turn over forever and not hit??
Does it start when it's warmed up??
When it does start is it running on all four cyclinders?Check header pipe temp to see which one if any it's missen on.
Kill switch in proper on postion 50% of the time.
Re: Trouble Starting
It turns over fast, but just wont hit. Sometimes if you let it just hold the starter and give it a little throttle after a while it will hit.
Sometimes it wont start even if its warm, sometimes it will. I think it may be the starter but wtf do I know.
I dont know how to check the header pipe, is that easy? I am new to bikes, tryin to fix this stuff on my own.
Thanks fo the reply.

Re: Trouble Starting
1st thing I would try is to change the plugs.
The header thing is easy to do. When the bike is running you just touch each header pipe and check Temp. The header can get very hot and can burn you even with a quick touch. I just spit on my fingers and quickly touch the pipe. The pipe or pipes that are not hot are your problem cyclinder. This just helps narrow down the long list of possible problems.
Try not to run your starter for more then 10 sec at a time. You can damage it and or wireing running it too long.
Gang of things that could be wrong sorry I am not much help. Make sure you have fuel getting to the carbs. There is drain screws on the bottom of each carb, I'd drain each carb this would do 2 things for you. #1 make sure each carb is getting fuel and #2 it would drain bad gas or H2O from your carbs. Do this and change the plugs then see if it will start.
It's tough with you not knowing much but this is how you learn. Let me know if we can help further.

I agree...had the same problem on an older F3. New plugs and the bike fired up first time. Change your plugs.
