Talking 2nd gear on a 954

Can someone help me out. I have stock 02 CB954. I can sit down and wheelie out first. I can't seem to get the shifting to second down. But I really want to do a stand upin second but I can not get it up in second.I know the bike can do it so what am I doing wrong or what am I not doing? I have tried to bounce and clutch it but no luck on either.

Re: 2nd gear on a 954

just slow down and take your time. Stop tryin to learn how to shift from first to second. That is a stupid thing to learn and isnt very useful until you are good enough to switch from first to second to third and then all the way back down to 1st while on one wheel (and even then its not useful.. but kinda fun). The only thing you are going to accomplish by switching gears is riding a 2 foot high wheelie to 100 mph. Read the how to wheelie thread and practice practice practice. You'll get it. Don't ever envy or hang around those dorks that say stuff like "yeah I can wheelie all the way to redline" and stupid things like that. Those people are morons. They will hold you back by giving you bad advice. Dont listen to anyone with a bicycle in their avatar either cause they dont know anything either. Dont listen to anyone, just read that thread and practice.

Here's the link. Read it.

One thing I will tell you not to do.

DO NOT EVER EVER CLUTCHLESS SHIFT. I used to do that a lot and ended up with a fugged up transmission. You won't believe how fast it wears out too.
Just so you know to replace a gear on the 954 the engine needes to be fully removed, there is no other way. So if I were you I would avoid shifting on one wheel. learn to ride it at the Bp or launch in second. Plus the 954 has a really positive neutral so you'll get more false 2nds then anything else anyway. By the way,,, it will launch in second. I'm at 6000 ft altitude and mine will launch in 3rd. However, because the 954 is lower on it's torque pay more attention to body position. A little shift in wieght goes a very long way.

Oh ya,, and another thing,,,sorry but I've never seen an automatic 954 or even heard of one I want a link to show me one. It sounds lame. But then again I'm not immune to being wrong.

DAMN I just read that entire post but "nomotorwheelies" I have to say that is by far one of the worst posts I've ever read. The guy doesn't own a bike and only posted 11 times and he's already trying to teach people how to ruin thier bikes. What an idiot, that other guy was totally right DONT LISTIN TO BICYCLE people.

Trust me on the clutchless shifting thing because I've owned countless bikes and have had my 954 since they first came out. I've done top end work I've done transmission work I've had every single thing on that bike apart at some point. I'm a much better wrench then rider so are all my friends and family.

if you clutchless shift especially like dipshiat sais at super high rpm without rpm matching you'll destroy your gears in fact I'll even tell you how and why if you want. It's not like Honda just decided to add a clutch to the bike for fun ya know. It's there for a very good reason.

if you have all the tools, a good workshop, and know a decent dealership to give you a little hook up the job will cost you about 400.00 if you take it in to have it done count on 1900.00 to 2300.00 to fix a bad transmission abused by clutchless shifts. BEEN THERE DONE THAT.

Nomotorwheelies,, stop advising people unless you know everything about it first,,azz. Go find a freestyle site,,,or go rent "rad" but stop trying to ruin peoples bikes!
