gsxr 1000 motor
hello,
Has anyone ever fixed their own transmission? My gsxr 1000 created a neutral in between 3rd and 4th and is stuck there. It won't go into 3rd or 4th its jammmed up in a nuetral type of gap?
here are my questions:
1)what do you think broke......shifter fork, shift drum....actaul gears??? any tech type of guys could really help me out here before I get it pulled a part any further. I am just about to pull the clutch hub and break apart the lower case.... Please help
2) how easy to fix... I got lots of tools and am pretty mechanical I have raced for 5 years and have done a lot of clutches cam tesioners etc..
3) the motor has 14 k on it.....is it worth fixing? I have beat the **** out of this thing like 150 mph everywhere...no joke
4) will a motor out of an 03-04 fit into my 2001 gsxr 1000 without mods to the engine mounts I have heard it does and it doesn't. has anybody actaully tried or know someone that has?
Thanks in advance

Re: gsxr 1000 motor
Fixing transmissions isn't hard, but it is time consuming. Lots of things to take apart. If you're good at turning a wrench and you keep all the parts organized, I don't see any reason why you couldn't fix it. I've done a few myself. Not really sure of what's broken. Maybe a shift fork or the detent arm/detent spring. You'll know when you take it apart.
