Are you kiddin me! billet is the strongest you can get for covers.
I looped my R6 at 120KMH it went end over end smashing the covers. I had Circuit1 billets on both sides. It didnt spill a drop and I was able to ride it back.
After those I bought Billet Techs they were almost exactly the same but cheaper.

Good bike mechanic friend of mine told me the billet covers can break just as easy--coming from a 12 and slamming down on the cover--has anybody done that?

No pics I couldnt bear to look at them so I didnt take any. But I can tell you that the damage was light and Id estimate the covers would take another 10 hits like that. The covers are not only made of billet which is 10X stronger that cast(stock) but they are about 1/2 and inch thick where they would hit the ground. Youll break your engine cases before you break billet coveres

it is a bad thing, but something will break, cage or no cage...eventually...i was just saying that because someone asked how tough they were.

Cool thanks---If FI has a booth at Stuntwars I'll buy a cage from them--I think I'd have better peace of mind having 2 cages....this **** always happens when the weather gets warm too---

i have the bike lined up to build the cage this weekend. ill send pics asap. dont worry, im working on it.
and all this talk about chromolly and what not blah blah blah blah blah blah....
my bender can bend 1.25 chromoly wall thickness and 1.25 wall thickness for mild steel. it doesnt really matter. its all the same for the most part. yes maybe its a little stronger, but not strong enough to make a diference. if it was that much stronger, then construction companies would be building sky scrapers with it. think about it, it doesnt cost much more, maybe a few pennies. and if it was that strong the few pennies more would be saved with less material. stop bullshitting people

Had a good friend weld up a "stator guard" on the powers cage today:
If the pic sucks, the little support bar going across the bottom is pretty thick--3/8 inch....

I'll take more pics when I get my stator cover next week and install it--but I think this will work--there's only 1 way to find out and we all know what that is!
Re: Dumped 929 w/Powers Cage-Busted Stator Cover
While we were at it, he welded a 3/4" yes....3/4" inch thick steel bar to the skinny powers plate--together, its 1 1/8" thick. :YEAH :YEAH
