Wheelie Help
Wheelie Help
On a 2004 cbr600f4i, I went down 1 in front. And 2 up rear. All I do is wheelies ,everyday every ride. I want to beable to ride at a steady speed of about 70 or 80 to stay with cars on highways.
ok heres what im doing, in 2nd gear, I bounce it up standing on foot pegs and try to get it to the balance point as quickly as possible. Im balancing it halfass because I can ride it out for a little ways then it ends up redlining at 98mph .it is in my opinion rapping out really fast…now I can get going in 3rd gear at 70 mph and bounce it up and it is a lot easier ,I can balance it and hold it up longer and it feels good ,but the next thing you know im doing 115 mph .which is insane I don’t need to be doing that.do you think I should go up 1 more in the rear, and try riding in 3rd gear. Because face it if im on the freeway and I want to bust a wheelie I cant drop it down into 2nd gear ,when cars all around me are doing 70mph. and heres a question can a 600 ride wheelies for miles like the 1000s. I know im probably having to work harder. What do you think ?gears??? me not holding it at the balance point long enough? I wish I would have bought a 1000 oh and the bike is stock. Whats the deal?

That's me, I know its a shitty wheelie but check out how when I give it gas and let off it floats? When it starts floating like that you're balancing it.

sorry i could bearly hear i have to rev mine up to like 11 and still get shitty results, i dont have 954 dont know what it sounds like....chill, i hold no grudges from before
Re: Wheelie Help
If I bounced it up you wouldn't hear anything on the launch. I don't want to boucne wheelies up though until I get my damper because they're too headshake prone since you're right in the powerband rolling on and off.

600 is the bike that needs skill and big ***** cause the 1000 you can just wack it so dont be so hard on your self plus 115 mph wheelie thats not bad for skill try going up 4 of 5 in the back total dont go down 2 in the front even if they tell you its just puttin 1st into 2nd and its so short you will run out of rpms

I was having the same question with my 02 GSX-R 750. Will going down 1 in front and up 3 in rear be helpful to keeping her up? And will the 2nd & 3rd gear wheelies be easier?
How much top end will I lose? How much will I lose from 1st?

Re: Wheelie Help
listen guys, you're not balancing them if the speed is increasing like that. just because the wheel doesnt set down right away doesnt mean you are balancing it. gearing your bike will not help you balance it whatsoever, it actually might make it harder. the throttle will be twitchier. gearing will only help you get the front wheel up faster, not keep it up. best way to learn to balance them is to learn that rear brake and bring the wheel up higher, you can also try leaning back some
Re: Wheelie Help
For me, I couldn't balance **** until I got a stunt bike and started doing slow wheelies. When you do slow wheelies on a geared bike it pretty much forces you to get as high as possible as quick as possible especially if you force yourself to practice in a tiny lot. Then when you go out and try highway wheelies it just comes naturally to rev it up until the revs don't increase.

no offense bro.......but if you can't balance your wheelie and are not in control you have no business doing a wheelie that fast.....especially in traffic.....you are putting your safety and innocent people around you at risk.....slow them down......find a parking lot and learn balance point, rear brake and control.......please!!!!!
Re: Wheelie Help
for real..dan is right... you need to do more research and practice before you try ridin mile long 80 mph wheelies on the freeway... and obviously you are lookin for an easy way out by trying to find gearing and **** like that..do it the way everyone else does, work your *** of and practice..BP is where you need to be..it's the point where you don't feel the bikes weight anymore, and u feel like u r falling off the back..get there, then you'll be fine... and p.s. 80 mph wheelies aren't cool nemore...

I learned that im obviously not staying in the BP which is going to take more practice.
the comment i made about cars around me was a hypetetical situation which I would want to avoid, I never wheelie near any cars because cars are hard enough to avoid on two wheels, let alone one.
