954 shutting off

ok heres the deal,

The other day i started wheelien my 02 954rr it was all fine. i was rocking highway wheelies for a mile or two not chasing bp either. yesterday i brought up a stand up and the bike completely shut off (almost went over the bars) and wouldn't start back up till i turned the key off and back on then i did another wheelie n it was fine, 20 minutes later it did it again in a sit down wheelie. then tonight every wheelie i do it shuts off well the throttle just stops but bike didn't shut off, and i look like a ****ing squid and my knees are ****in bruised. anybody else have this problem with there 954? i'd understand if i was rockin bar tricks n ****, but this is just 10-11o clock wheelies.

get a suzuki check battery cables,my friend had same problem couldn't find what up with the bike,it was just the cables.very easy fix, screw driver!
tip over sensor should be fine on highway, only 12's or on the bar, even than if u stay on the gas it should run

Re: 954 shutting off

I was having a similar problem with my 954. I was at a spot practicing, and everytime I set the bike back down the engine would shut off. I didn't have to turn the key off and on, but I kept having to restart the bike. Even when I was riding the bike home, everytime I hit a bump the engine would shut off. After tearing the bike apart, it ended up being a wire that was connected to the "Engine Shutoff" relay was loose. I hardwired it to the relay and haven't had the problem since.

Let me know if you need the 954 mechanics manual, I have a copy in PDF format.

Good Luck!

Re: 954 shutting off

nah its not bettery connection, checked that the first time it shut off on me., its only when i do stand ups. today i was rockin sitdowns on the highway and not once it shut off i was to afriad to do stand up today cause my knees are still aching like a mother ****er and im rockin a full gas tank. ima pull the harness off the tip over sensor and run a paper clip from #1 to #3 spot on the harness and go test it. maybe this tip over sensor is really sensitive?

Re: 954 shutting off

I was there when Mastershake almost went over the bars. If it's his tip-over sensor, that ***** is damn sensitive. Not to mention, wouldn't the tip-over sensor turn the bike off? Because the bike didn't shut off, the throttle just suddenly seemed to do nothing (checked the vid shake, the bike is on as you pass the camera doing a handstand). He checked the battery first thing, rocked some more wheelies, then during one it turned off again. It was weird...I'd say maybe a loose wire.
